Local group sending hundreds of care packages to U.S. Armed Forces

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. (KRQE) – The men and women of the U.S. Armed Forces are always pushing themselves to the limit, and one group came together Saturday afternoon to say, “Thank you.”

The Rio Grande Valley Blue Star Mothers, made up of local volunteers, sent hundreds of soldiers to slice of home, one parcel at a time. The group says the boxes contain snacking essentials, packed with a whole lot of love.

“We had a whole lot of help, we can’t do it without our community supporting with cash funds for shipping. The donations of peanut butter, tuna, jerky – that is all such a blessing, and we need it. Please continue,” said Rosemary Freelin, Second Vice-President of Fundraising with the Rio Grande Valley Blue Star Mothers.

Officials said at last count, over 300 packages were put together…
