Operation Route 66 nets 771 arrests since launch in February

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. (KRQE) – The Bernalillo County District Attorney said the ongoing Operation Route 66 in the International District has led to 771 arrests since it started in February.

Law enforcement has focused on fighting crime on Central Avenue, around Louisiana and Wyoming Boulevards. “This neighborhood, the businesses, and the people who live in the community deserve Route 66, and we are cleaning it up,” said Bernalillo County DA Sam Bregman.

Out of the total number of arrests, seven included homicide suspects. Officials also took seven juveniles into custody as part of the operation.

The DA’s office, in collaboration with the Bernalillo County Sheriff and, New Mexico State Police, launched Operation Route 66 to track down violent offenders and get guns and drugs, like fentanyl, off the streets…
