City of Albuquerque testing environmentally friendly mosquito spray in neighborhoods

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. (KRQE) – They’re a nuisance and a health hazard. Now, the city of Albuquerque is trying a new method this summer to control the mosquito population in certain areas. It’s a spray they say is safer to use around humans than previous methods.

This summer’s mosquito pesticide is supposed to be safer for humans and pets. For now, the city is trying the product out in three different neighborhoods across the metro.

“I’m super glad to hear that they’re using this new, less harmful to humans spray. I have my two sons, and they’re into everything constantly. To know that it’s not going to harm them makes me feel a lot safer,” said Los Lunas resident Jennifer Rosser.
