New Mexico Summer Weather Alert: Scattered Thunderstorms Likely by Noon Tuesday — Risk of Street Flooding in Albuquerque

Albuquerque, New Mexico – Storms are expected to return to central New Mexico by late Tuesday morning, bringing the risk of lightning, brief downpours, and travel delays through the afternoon.

According to the National Weather Service in Albuquerque, scattered showers will develop before 9 a.m. Tuesday, followed by thunderstorms between 9 a.m. and noon. Some storms may be strong enough to impact I-25 and surrounding roadways with reduced visibility and slick pavement. Rainfall amounts could reach up to three-quarters of an inch in some areas, especially near foothills and east-facing slopes.

The chance of showers and storms will continue Tuesday night, with the highest likelihood just before midnight.
