New Mexico man accused of killing his friend in “jealous rage”

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. (KRQE) – A New Mexico man has been arrested after being accused of kidnapping his girlfriend and killing his friend on June 21, in southeast Albuquerque.

Police say serial burglar struck again in Albuquerque

The Albuquerque Police Department says Johnathan Torres got upset with his girlfriend and accused her of cheating on him with his friend as she tried to break up with him. The woman told police Torres hit her several times in the head and face, then dragged her by her hair to a car. Once in the car he demanded she drive him to his friend, Orlando Atencio.

Police say the woman drove to an apartment complex at 1014 Valencia Dr. Police say witnesses told them Atencio approached the vehicle and Torres told him, “What’s up with you and my girl?” then shot Atencio. They say Torres then got out of the car, ran around the back, and shot Atencio two more times. Police say Torres forced the woman to drive him away from the area. Atencio died from his injuries at the scene. Torres was arrested Thursday night and faces multiple charges, including murder and kidnapping…
