ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. (KRQE) – The City of Albuquerque is trying to overhaul its bus service with new routes, but some of the changes that could come with it have sparked traffic fears from neighbors.

A stretch of Indian School Rd. is where the city is contemplating changing a special designation that could allow for more buses, but the idea is drawing mixed reactions for what else it could do to the road. In the North Valley, the city is floating the idea of changing parts of Rio Grande Blvd., Menaul Blvd., and Indian School Rd. into “major transit corridors” that would pave the way for more frequent bus service.
“The entire purpose of major transit corridor designation is to prioritize public transit, and that is buses. Outside of that, we have very strong language still for pedestrian and cyclist infrastructure, whether that’s bulb outs, added crossings,” said Mathew Cox, Principal Planner for CABQ…
