ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. — Whether it’s a flash flood, tornados or extreme winds, the alerts you get on your phone are there for a reason.
“Anytime we issue a warning, people need to take that seriously,” said Scott Overpeck, a warning coordination meteorologist at the National Weather Service’s Albuquerque office. “Because we are evaluating, we are looking at data, and based off our expertise and experience, we really think there’s a life-threatening situation, we’re going to issue that warning.”
