Tijeras man accused of killing family indicted on charges

TIJERAS, N.M. (KRQE) – A grand jury has indicted the man accused of killing his family and a dog last year. Police said Adlai Mestre fatally shot his mother, father, and 17-year-old sister inside their Tijeras home on October 13, 2024. Authorities said he dragged the bodies outside into a ravine.

Sentence hearing halted in Albuquerque baby death case

In April, a judge ruled Mestre was not competent to stand trial, but last month, a judge deemed him competent. On Thursday, Bernalillo County District Attorney Sam Bregman said Mestre was indicted on three counts of first-degree murder and tampering with evidence, and one count of animal cruelty. A trial date is not yet set.
