ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. (KRQE) – The man involved in a SWAT stand-off that led to a teen’s death will remain behind bars through his trial. Qiaunt Kelley was wanted for a murder and a second shooting in 2022 when he and 15-year-old Brett Rosenau barricaded themselves in a home near Zuni Rd. and Wyoming Blvd.
Suspect arrested for shooting death of a woman in Los Lunas
At one point, police deployed a gas canister in the home, sparking a fire. Rosenau died from smoke inhalation. Kelley’s case was put on hold because of questions about his competency. On July 1, 2025, Kelley was found competent to stand trial. A judge has now ruled Kelley will remain in custody through his trial.
