ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. (KRQE) – It is a special day for young women and girls across the state as they got all dolled up for the first-ever Girls Day. On Saturday, Miss New Mexico USA Mackenzie Sydow and the New Mexico Child First Network teamed up to provide girls in the foster care system with a little love.

Make-up artists, nail techs, and hair stylists were all on site to get the future Miss New Mexico ready for the stage. “They’re twirling their dresses, they are playing with makeup, they are getting their hair done; it is a dream. One of the girls just told me it’s the best day of her life,” says Maralyn Beck with New Mexico Child First Network.
Sydow and her brother were also in foster care. She wanted to do this event as her last act before someone new wins the title in August…
