[1] Albuquerque home invasion victim scares off accused burglar with gun – APD say 40-year-old Michael Salas broke into a home Monday, led police on a car chase, then fled on foot and entered Anthony Nichogi’s apartment. Nichogi, who is in a wheelchair, says he repeatedly asked Salas to leave. He says he turned and grabbed his gun, got out of the wheelchair and commanded Salas to leave. APD says Salas was found next door on the roof and arrested after a SWAT standoff.

[2] APD seeing success fighting crime downtown with Horse Mounted Unit – APD says its horse mounted officers are making an impact in combating crime downtown. They say the unit has made 48 arrests so far this year. The unit patrols with four to six horses at a time, each teamed with a specially trained officer. APD says you can expect to see the horse mounted unit at other events around the city, including the upcoming state fair and Balloon Fiesta.

[3] Briefly drier & hotter before more rainfall – Through the middle of the week we will see isolated showers and storms continuing across parts of New Mexico each afternoon and evening. This is due to high pressure sitting over western parts of the state. This will keep the flash flooding threat possible throughout as well.
