Man accused of murder outside a Blake’s will remain in custody

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. (KRQE) – A man accused of a murder outside of a Blake’s restaurant in Albuquerque will be held behind bars through his trial.

Christian Elycio, 21, is accused of shooting Edward Nicholas, 46, after the two got into a fight. Witnesses told police the two men separated after an initial dispute. A manager at the restaurant told Nicholas to leave the property. Police state that surveillance video showed Nicholas begin to walk away when Elycio approached and fired several gunshots, leading Nicholas to fall to the ground. Elycio allegedly ran up and fired more rounds at him. An autopsy says Nicholas was shot ten times.

Judge Bruce Fox granted the state’s motion for pretrial detention based on the violent nature of the crime. Elycio will be held behind bars through his trial…
