ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. (KRQE) – Police arrested a man accused of stealing a bait car near downtown Albuquerque. Police placed a bait car near Presbyterian Hospital due to repeated thefts in the area.
Jury unable to reach verdict in Albuquerque murder trial
Around 6 a.m. Wednesday, police say Andrew Romero, 38, took the bait car and drove it to a home in Los Lunas. Multiple departments responded to the home and saw Romero leave the property in the stolen vehicle. Bosque Farms police initiated a traffic stop and Romero began to flee in the vehicle. Police disabled the bait car and Romero could be seen on camera throwing a gun outside of the window. The gun was recovered and confirmed to be stolen out of Valencia County.
Romero was taken into custody and brought to Albuquerque to be booked into the Metropolitan Detention Center. Romero faces multiple charges including unlawful taking of a motor vehicle and receiving and transferring a stolen firearm…
