Accused leader of Albuquerque shoplifting ring pleads no contest

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. (KRQE) – The accused leader of a shoplifting ring in Albuquerque pleaded no contest to organized retail crime and racketeering charges in court Thursday.

Investigators said Raul Garcia orchestrated a retail theft ring in Albuquerque, recruiting multiple people to shoplift merchandise from stores, including Lululemon, Sephora, PetSmart, Ulta, and TJ Maxx. Garcia then sold the stolen goods online for profit.

The Bernallilo County District Attorney said Garcia faces up to nine years in prison…
