Albuquerque man sentenced for having gun illegally

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. (KRQE) – An Albuquerque man was sentenced to more than four years in prison for having a gun illegally during a break-in. In June 2020, Santa Fe County deputies responded to a vehicle break-in where they found Michael Matthew Martinez asleep in the back of the car. When he was told to get out of the vehicle, deputies said he reached toward his jacket pocket, where deputies said they saw a gun. After he was restrained, deputies found the gun in a packet.

Martinez pled guilty to being a felon in possession of a gun. He was sentenced to 51 months in prison and will have three years of supervised release.
