Man accused killing a woman over motorcycle dispute will remain behind bars

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. (KRQE) – A man facing charges for a fatal shooting over a motorcycle will be held behind bars through trial. Nicholas Lucio is accused in the murder of Ann Marie Chaires at an apartment complex in southeast Albuquerque.

Lucio, Matthew Mitchem and a third man are accused of confronting Chaires on July 2 at the apartment complex. Police said the men accused Chaires of selling Mitchem’s motorcycle, which he stored at the apartment, and demanded that she take them to get it back, APD said. According to police, a witness said one of the men fired a shot, striking Chaires and killing her.

Judge Joseph Montano ruled Lucio will remain behind bars through his trial. Mitchem pleaded not guilty to his murder charge. Police are still looking for the third suspect…
