Community remembers 80th anniversary of USS Bullhead bombing

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. (KRQE) – Dozens of veterans came together Saturday to honor one of the last losses of Naval life during World War II. On August 6, 1945, the USS Bullhead was bombed by a Japanese plane, killing 84 men on board.

This week marks 80 years since the sinking of the ship. Vets say they are honored to remember those who gave the ultimate sacrifice for our country.

“The thing is, is that no one is lost or forgotten until you do forget them, and we’re not going to forget them,” says Base Commander Daniel Rose, of the Bullhead Bay Submarine Veterans group. “We’re going to keep their spirit alive.”
