1 dead in NE Albuquerque officer-involved shooting

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. (KRQE) – A man is dead after an officer-involved shooting with Albuquerque police (APD). Authorities believe that the incident stemmed from a domestic disturbance in the area.

APD stated that they received a call to the area of Chelwood Park and Menaul Blvd NE shortly before 3:00 p.m. Saturday. Albuquerque Fire Rescue (AFR) was already on the scene for another call when they heard gunshots.

According to AFR, as they approached the scene, they reported hearing shots fired, prompting them to notify dispatch, which then sent officers to the location.

When officers arrived, two women approached them, claiming that one of them was involved in a domestic disturbance and confirming the gunshots. At that point, a man emerged from behind a car with a gun in his hand. Officers reported that they were giving commands in both English and Spanish for him to drop the weapon…
