6,000 APS staff members celebrate start of school year with Teacher Palooza

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. (KRQE) — School is starting for most APS students this Thursday, but on Monday, teachers are getting pumped up for the new year with a pep-rally. They’re calling it TeacherPalooza.

About 6,000 staff members showed up to the inaugural event to learn more from eachother in break-out sessions, and to celebrate as a school district rather than individual schools. “A lot of feedback we’ve gotten is that school feels isolating, since we have so many campuses across the city,” APD Superintendent Gabriella Blakey. “So we came together as a team to really look at how can we bring our staff all together to kick off the schoolyear as one district.”
