Sandia Labs conducting several controlled explosives tests

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. (KRQE) — Sandia National Laboratories is scheduled to conduct controlled explosives tests on several dates in August. The tests will be done at the Thunder Range test site on Kirtland Air Force Base.

Controlled explosives test dates:

  • Wednesday, Aug. 6, 8 a.m.-5 p.m.
  • Monday, Aug. 18, 8 a.m.-5 p.m.
  • Tuesday, Aug. 19, 8 a.m.-5 p.m.
  • Wednesday, Aug. 20, 8 a.m.-5 p.m.
  • Thursday, Aug. 21, 8 a.m.-5 p.m.

Sandia Labs says some residents may hear an explosion associated with the tests. Black smoke and dust may be visible in the area following the tests. Sandia says the tests support its national security missions. Test dates and times may change based on weather conditions.
