Bernalillo County honors lifeguards who helped save swimmer at South Valley Aquatic Center

BERNALILLO COUNTY, N.M. (KRQE) –The Bernalillo County Board of Commissioners issued a proclamation Monday recognizing a team of lifeguards who saved the life of a young swimmer at the South Valley Aquatic Center.

The lifeguards jumped into action when they saw the child struggling on June 23. Lifeguard Logan Sanchez immediately entered the water to recover the child, while pool manager Melannie Hernandez activated emergency protocols and led a coordinated response to ensure the child’s recovery, the county said in a news release.
