APD release details on officer-involved shooting that ended with one man dead

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. (KRQE) – The Albuquerque Police Department is scheduled to hold a news conference at 2 p.m. Monday to release details of a recent officer-involved shooting. The shooting happened on July 15, 2025, and left one man dead.

Officers responded to a home near Golf Course Rd. and Paseo Del Norte Blvd. Police said they got a call about someone who may have been threatening suicide. When officers arrived on scene, police said they made contact with who they think is the wife of the suspect. She told police the two were in some kind of dispute. Police say they made contact with the suspect in the backyard and believed he had a gun. Shortly after, the suspect went inside, barricaded himself, and fired at officers multiple times out of a window. Officers fired back and the suspect was later found dead inside his garage. APD said it does not know if he shot himself or if officers killed him.
