Police said the mother claimed the boy had fallen in the bathtub, but a medical exam found forceful trauma to the ears, such as pinching, striking, or pulling. The boy and other children in the home told police their foster mother, Johnnie Douma, often spanked and grabbed the boy’s ears when he had accidents. Douma faces child abuse charges.
