Operation Route 66 nets nearly 1,000 arrests along Central in Albuquerque

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. — Authorities have made nearly 1,000 arrests since the multi-agency Operation Route 66 began about six months ago on Central Avenue in Albuquerque.

According to the Bernalillo County District Attorney’s Office, the operation has led to:

  • Over 950 arrests
    • 11 homicide suspects
  • Recovery of more than 80 stolen vehicles
  • Nearly 850 outstanding warrants cleared
  • Seizures of large quantities of illegal drugs and firearms

The operation is designed to disrupt violent crime, drug activity and property crime through “concentrated enforcement and collaboration.”

“We’ve accomplished a lot — but we still have a lot more work to do,” Bernalillo County District Attorney Sam Bregman said. “This operation is about results, and we remain focused on getting dangerous offenders off the streets and holding them accountable.”…
