New Mexico man found guilty of killing his girlfriend

RIO RANCHO, N.M. (KRQE) – A jury found a man guilty of shooting his girlfriend and driving around the metro with her body in the car. In 2023, a family member of then 23-year-old Matthew Chavez called Rio Rancho police, saying he told them he shot and killed his girlfriend.

Man indicted for allegedly kidnapping boss in New Mexico

Police then called Chavez, who told authorities he was driving around the metro with her body in the car. He eventually met police at the Premiere 14 Theater, where he was arrested.

On Thursday, a jury found him guilty of second-degree murder. He faces up to 23 years in prison. A sentencing date has not been set yet…
