Rain chances to steadily increase this weekend in New Mexico

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. — Rain chances continue to work north and west Friday as drier air in the mid-levels push west from Thursday.

In fact, rain chances have really dropped for the Albuquerque metro, with maybe a 10% chance at most to see any raindrops The latest run of the high-resolution model has most of the rain fizzling out before it reaches Albuquerque proper – but some spots may pick up a sprinkle. If we were to see rain in the metro, that would most likely be during the evening hours but a stray late afternoon shower or storm is still possible.

The monsoon high would direct storm motion to the south and west. The rain that would happen in the metro would have to come from the Sandia Mountains or the Sangre de Cristo Mountains…
