New Mexico man who shot APS janitor to stay in custody until he turns 21

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. (KRQE) – A 19-year-old Albuquerque man who shot an Albuquerque Public Schools custodian and committed a string of armed robberies will stay in custody until he’s 21. Daniel Trujillo pleaded guilty to aggravated battery and unlawfully having a gun in connection with the 2023 shooting of Kennedy Middle School custodian Paul Tafoya, who is still recovering from his injuries.

Trujillo also pleaded guilty to armed robbery and conspiracy charges for a four-day string of robberies after he used a gun to steal four cars…
