APS crisis team offers mental health support after gun incident at West Mesa HS

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. (KRQE) – An armed confrontation between a student and a school resource officer at West Mesa High School on Wednesday prompted Albuquerque Public Schools to deploy its crisis intervention team the following day—providing mental health support to affected students.

The District Stress Management and Recovery Team, known as D-SMART, is activated in response to traumatic or tragic events that ripple through a school community.
