4 teens accused of bringing guns to Albuquerque schools held in custody

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. (KRQE) – Just days into the school year, a handful of students are already looking at serious criminal charges for having a gun on or near an Albuquerque school campus. Four of those students appeared in court on Friday.

Four of the high school students who brought guns to school this week will be held while awaiting trial. The district attorney assured KRQE News 13 that all the students involved will be held accountable.“We should recognize how traumatic it is for all the other students, all the other folks involved in those schools, right? The parents, the teachers, the administrators. It’s scary,” said Bernalillo County District Attorney Sam Bregman.

On Wednesday, four guns in unrelated incidents were found at West Mesa High School and Albuquerque High School. A fifth gun was found just off campus in the possession of two students at Del Norte High School. “We are going to hold everybody accountable.
