Former Albuquerque firefighter who once faced rape charges sues the city

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. (KRQE) – A former Albuquerque firefighter who was accused of rape but was found not guilty is now suing the city. Aden Heyman is one of three former Albuquerque firefighters who faced rape charges, but he is now a free man. In July, a jury decided Heyman was not guilty of raping a woman during an off-duty party in 2023.

Earlier this month, Heyman’s attorney filed a lawsuit against the city of Albuquerque, Albuquerque Fire Rescue Chief Emily Jaramillo, and Deputy Chief Chris Sotelo. “We are seeking in this lawsuit to hold everyone accountable for terminating Mr. Heyman’s employment and defaming him on patently false allegations on an incomplete and inadequate investigation,” said Jason Bowles, Heyman’s attorney.

The lawsuit outlines Heyman’s complaints, stating that after being employed by AFR for about 12 years, in 2023, “He was fired after allegations were made against him.”…
