BERNALILLO COUNTY, N.M. (KRQE) — Bernalillo County is bringing awareness to a national and confidential service that’s available on a 24/7 basis to anyone struggling. “988 Day of Action” is set for Monday, Sept. 8, and the county is encouraging the community to join in.

The 988 Lifeline is available through text, chat, or by calling. It connects anyone seeking support to a trained counselor. “Awareness of 988 is growing, but many community members still don’t realize that compassionate help is available for anyone, at any time,” says Wayne Lindstrom, Ph.D., deputy county manager, Behavioral Health. “Together, we can spread the word and help normalize the act of reaching out for mental health and emotional support.”
