ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. (KRQE) – The days might be numbered for a popular Albuquerque tourist spot overlooking the city, with the United States Forest Service considering demolishing the Sandia Crest House.

High atop the Sandias, the Crest House has sat vacant for years. “To know that it’s here and to be able to come up here whenever I want to,” said ABQ resident Jami Tenorio.
Built in 1955, the house eventually became home to a gift shop and café before emptying out after the COVID-19 pandemic, but it wasn’t until June of this year that the Forest Service officially condemned it, calling the Crest House a safety concern.
