Jackrabbit Trail Dance Group performs at IPCC

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. (KRQE) – The Jackrabbit Trail Dance Group shared the deep connection Indigenous people have to their land. The Indian Pueblo Cultural Center hosted the sacred performances, as the dancers pray and sing, they are reaching out to their ancestors.

Organizers point out that a lot of the dancers are younger, suggesting a new generation is keeping their traditions alive. “I hope people really take in the blessings that were giving them. The heartbeat of the drum is your heart, and Mother Earth, and we’re just praying in other words as well, and performing, and hopefully people will know that us Native Americans are still here and we are still going strong,” says dancer Malachi Magdalena.
