ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. — The Albuquerque Police Department reported a 46% drop in homicides since a spike in 2022 – and a 24% drop in just the last year.
APD homicide detectives have investigated 50 homicides, as of Sept. 5, 2025. Here is how that compares to the same point in previous years:

According to APD, detectives have solved 62 murder cases, including 40 of the 48 cases from this year (two cases had two victims). They identified 97 suspects in the cases, charging 91 of them with murder and three of them with lesser crimes. The other three suspects are dead…
