ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. (KRQE) – An organization hoping to end the stigma surrounding suicide raised funds this weekend to raise mental health awareness. Breaking the Silence NM is a non-profit organization that promotes mental health advocacy for teens and young adults.
One New Mexico woman turned to the organization for help last year after she lost her 20-year-old son, Christopher Ryan, to suicide. She told News 13 recently that she did not recognize the signs but hopes other parents do.

“I didn’t recognize the signs. I had no idea I didn’t have any experience on my own. I talked to him about it, we offered counseling. He kind of push, pushed us away for anything that we offered, so I thought that everything was okay,” said Breaking the Silence NM board member Tammy Collins.
