ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. — September is PNM’s annual Copper Theft Awareness Month so they’re educating and warning customers about copper theft and how to prevent it
Copper is a valuable metal often used in electrical wiring in homes and businesses for its high conductivity and durability. However, copper also has a high market value, which means thieves often target homes, businesses, scrap sites and utilities for it – causing power outages, high repair costs and dangerous situations for everyone.
According to PNM, they have received 92 reports of copper thieves hitting businesses. That is up from 84 reports in 2023…
