Fabian Gonzales’ brother sentenced to 20 years for murder

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. — A judge sentenced a man convicted of killing someone during a 2022 argument over speeding in his South Valley neighborhood.

Judge David Murphy sentenced Joseph Gonzales to 20 years for killing a man in the South Valley in 2022. Joseph Gonzales is the brother of Fabian Gonzales, who was convicted for his role in the brutal death of 10-year-old Victoria Martens. In fact, Joseph testified in his brother’s trial not long before the shooting.

Bernalillo County Sheriff’s deputies said they found a man shot and dead in the area of Val Verde Drive after receiving a 911 call from Joseph Gonzales. Gonzales said he yelled at a man for allegedly speeding by in his pickup truck. The driver turned around, got out and argued with Gonzales – who then fired a warning shot. The driver then ran back to his truck, which is when Gonzales shot him three times…
