Video: Bernalillo County deputies arrest man accused of holding UPS driver hostage

BERNALILLO COUNTY, N.M. (KRQE) – KRQE News 13 is learning more about what happened when a UPS driver said he was held hostage while driving his truck to Albuquerque. It was a terrifying moment for a UPS driver starting just outside of Albuquerque on I-40. When Bernalillo County deputies finally got the UPS driver to pull over, things got even more complicated.

In the middle of the day on September 8, Bernalillo County deputies pulled over a UPS truck off I-40 and Unser Blvd. Deputies ordered a man wearing nothing but boxer briefs to get on his knees. His name is Mukhammed Emin Idrisov, a 33-year-old from Brooklyn, New York. Moments before he was handcuffed, a police report said the UPS driver called 911 and said Idrisov got into his truck, demanding the UPS worker to drive and wouldn’t let him pull over.

Eventually, they did stop, and deputies tried to ask Idrisov what happened, but he said he didn’t understand English. A deputy then activated advanced technology within their body cam that can translate languages. They approach Idrisov and ask him if he can read. Idrisov then replies in Russian, saying he was poisoned that morning and there was more to it. Deputies then asked if he would talk about what happened on the UPS truck, and he declined to speak without a lawyer present…
