ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. (KRQE) – New Mexico is joining in on a nationwide movement that celebrates survivors and brings awareness to those still living with heart disease. The Heart Walk and 5K run are meant to honor survivors and build healthier communities by getting your blood pumping.

Event coordinators say those participating in the walk and run don’t do it just for their own health; they do it to set an example for their children and families. “I would like to address the state of New Mexico to go out to events like these, and it really helps our community, our state, to educate each other about what it means to promote heart health and awareness of stroke and heart disease,” says Pat Martinez, 2025 Go Red for Women winner.
