Drier, milder Sunday across New Mexico before surge of monsoon moisture

Drier air has settled into the region this weekend and today’s forecast will be bit of weather dejua vu. Similar to Saturday, sunshine and blue skies will be present in the Albuquerque area. High temperatures will rise into the 80s to make for a mild day with slightly breezy conditions. There is a spotty shower and storm chance in the west and northeast areas of New Mexico this evening; however, later tonight, showers will slide through areas of western New Mexico and southern Colorado. Lows will dip once again into the 50s in the Albuquerque area.

The additional monsoon moisture will also allow for isolated showers and storms to traverse through areas of the state. There is a slight chance for flash flooding if storms become strong enough to drop heavy rainfall. Later this week a back door cold front will swoop through dropping highs in the northeast and east to feel cooler and fall-like.

Shower and storm chances are expected for the last few days of the week and the weekend. Monday is also the Fall Equinox; tomorrow the Earth will not be titled either away or toward the sun.
