ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. — Since 1977, badges and boots with spurs have teamed up with hooves and horseshoes within the Albuquerque Police Department’s mounted horse units.
According to APD, the unit makes them more approachable while also giving them a good position to tackle crime. They claim, “an officer on a horse is roughly equivalent to 10 officers on the ground.”
