Man accused of robbing Circle K in Albuquerque faces federal charges

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. (KRQE) — A New Mexico man is facing federal charges after allegedly robbing a Circle K in June. According to police, 23-year-old Gabriel Moralez robbed the northwest Albuquerque gas station at gun point on June 15.

Newly released court documents say the cashier feared for their life and gave Moralez $140 of cash and eight packs of cigarettes. In that bundle of cash, there was a tracking device, and Albuquerque police caught up with Moralez a few blocks away.

Two officers attempted to subdue Moralez with less-than-lethal rounds. Officers say the suspect began to turn a gun on them during the chase, leading to an officer firing his rifle. Moralez was hit, arrested and treated for his wounds. He is now facing federal charges for being a felon in possession of a firearm…
