Two Zuni Men Sentenced for Armed Assault on Pueblo

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. – Two men from Zuni Pueblo have been sentenced to 33 months in federal prison each for their roles in a violent armed assault that left four victims traumatized.

According to court documents, the assault occurred on April 8, 2023, when Kamron Kallestewa, 25, and Kaden Panteah, 20, both enrolled members of the Pueblo, allegedly entered a residence and threatened four individuals with firearms. Prosecutors said Kallestewa struck two victims in the head and face with his weapon and pointed it at two others. Panteah aimed and fired his gun toward the group.

Both men pleaded guilty and were sentenced this week. Upon release, Kallestewa will serve two years of supervised release, while Panteah will serve three years. There is no parole in the federal prison system…
