Jury convicts man of shooting at Albuquerque home while his family was inside

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. (KRQE) – A man who shot up his ex-wife’s home with two children inside has been convicted of the crime.

The Bernalillo County District Attorney announced Eliazar Zarate-Hernandez was convicted of shooting at a dwelling or house and abuse of a child on Thursday.

Settlement reached after Albuquerque woman was killed by a man mistakenly released from prison

The shooting happened on Halloween in 2024 when Zarate-Hernandez fired multiple shots into a southwest Albuquerque home where his ex-wife and their two children, ages 8 and 14, were inside. No injuries were reported, but the DA said the attack placed the lives of all three at risk.

Zarate-Hernandez now faces more than 12 years in prison…
