Teen accused of bringing gun to Albuquerque High School released from custody

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. (KRQE) – A 14-year-old accused of bringing a gun to Albuquerque High School last week will be released from custody, and prosecutors are asking a judge to reconsider that decision. The Bernalillo County District Attorney’s Office said the teen was spotted with a handgun equipped with a laser sight inside a bathroom last Friday. Another student alerted school staff, but police said the teen tried to hide the gun in a locker. Police found the gun, loaded with 19 bullets.

On Tuesday, a judge released the teen to his parents. Prosecutors have since filed an emergency motion to reconsider the teen’s release, saying the boy’s father was charged with pointing a gun at a car over a parking space. Online court records show that the case was dismissed…..
