Brother of 14-year-old killed in UNM dorm will be held in jail pending his trial

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. (KRQE) – One of four people inside a University of New Mexico dorm room where a deadly shooting happened in July will now stay in jail while awaiting trial on charges tied to guns and text messages in the case.

Prosecutors argued that 20-year-old Zion Miera already has a criminal history with at least one prior arrest, a concern the judge took into account with his decision on Wednesday. “I don’t see the conditions, the tools that the court has as far as trying to keep the public safe,” explained New Mexico 2nd District Judge Emeterio Rudolfo. “I mean, he’s demonstrated an inability to make safe decisions.”…
