UNMH community mourns death of nurse who was hit by car

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. (KRQE) – A crash Thursday night killed a 28-year-old Albuquerque nurse, who was crossing the street outside of the University of New Mexico Hospital. Now the UNM medical community is mourning the tragic loss.

The Albuquerque Police Department said Alec Montoya was using this crosswalk across Lomas when he was hit by a car. Montoya was a graduate of the UNM College of Nursing before working at UNMH. In 2023, the university highlighted Montoya’s journey as an exemplary student.
