ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. (KRQE) – A quiet, long-empty stretch of Lomas Boulevard is about to see a dramatic transformation. A new mixed-use development is preparing to break ground near Lomas Blvd. and University Blvd. — just a five-minute walk from the University of New Mexico Hospital and a straight shot to downtown Albuquerque.

At the heart of the project is a seven-story Courtyard by Marriott Hotel, complete with a rooftop bar. But developers say that’s just the beginning.
The plans also include retail shops, two restaurants, and a central plaza with an outdoor stage. The development is being called “The District.” “It’s gonna be heavily landscaped. It’s almost more along the lines of the botanical garden because we have lots of neat landscaping designed.
