[1] NM SNAP benefits could be delayed if government shutdown continues – The U.S. Department of Agriculture told states across the country that if the government shutdown continues, SNAP benefits will not be distributed. Roughly 420,000 New Mexicans rely on those SNAP benefits. On Wednesday, state leaders discussed plans to help those impacted if the funding from the federal government is not on time.
[2] Street lighting project for MDC frontage road is approved – Plans to improve lighting on the road leading to the Metropolitan Detention Center are moving forward. Tuesday night, Bernalillo County Commissioners approved a project to install 119 solar lights along the I-40 frontage road between Atrisco Vista Boulevard and Shelly Road. That stretch has come under scrutiny in recent years over several deadly crashes.
[3] Coldest air of fall ahead with drier & calmer air – Drier air will filter into New Mexico from the west by Thursday afternoon. Dew points will fall back closer to average again for this time of year, after a record setting stretch of record high dew points in Albuquerque.
