[1] Mother of Victoria Martens released from prison – Michelle Martens, mother of Victoria Martens, was released from prison on Tuesday, October 14, according to the New Mexico Department of Corrections. Martens will be on parole for two years, along with five years of supervised probation. Victoria was killed in August 2016, her body dismembered. She was 10-year-old. Michelle was not accused of killing her daughter, but admitted to failing to protect her from Fabian Gonzales and Jessica Kelley. She admitted to child abuse resulting in death.

[2] City of Albuquerque begins process to foreclose on two problem properties – The City of Albuquerque is starting the process of foreclosing on the Motel Six on Coors and Iliff and the CVS near Central and Louisiana. After months of non-compliance and no participation from the property owners to improve, the two properties have racked up tens of thousands of dollars in fines and hundreds of calls for service. It’s unclear when exactly the foreclosure will be complete. The city is encouraging people to report any problem properties to 311.

[3] Colder mornings but warmer and dry weather ahead – A cold front will leave temperatures cooler statewide on Friday afternoon with sunny and dry weather. Another round of freezing temperatures is likely Friday night in western and northern New Mexico, the Estancia Valley, and southwest Colorado.
